The TACVB
Board of Directors has instituted the Texas Destination Marketing
Certificate Program (TDM), in order to provide convention and visitor
bureau’s an educational framework
for marketing Texas as a destination for both tourism and group
business.
What is the purpose of TDM?
The objective
of the Texas Destination Marketing Certificate Program (TDM) is
to provide convention and visitor bureau's an educational framework
for marketing Texas as a destination for both tourism and group
business. The program requires 27 credits for each certificate program,
attendance at relevant meetings, education sessions and knowledge
of Texas .

covers eight (8) tracks:
- Texas Heritage/Cultural Tourism
- Administration/Finance
- Communications/Technology
- Group Sales
- Group Servicing
- Marketing
- Tourism Sales
- Visitor Services
What are the certificate
requirements?
The
objective of the overall program is to educate participants on the
various disciplines of a convention and visitor bureau. Twenty-seven
(27) credits will be required to complete any one area of knowledge.
The program will provide a certificate in each area of study after
the participant has accumulated 27 credits in each area. To complete
the entire program and receive the "TDM Designation," the participant
must complete a total of six (6) of the eight (8) areas of knowledge.
Program participants are required to successfully complete the CVB
101 training (3 credits) and the Texas Heritage/Cultural Tourism
certificate, in addition to their choice of five (5) other areas
of knowledge to achieve TDM Designation.
There is a program admission
application and an admission fee of $20.00 per certificate (track)
program. TACVB will provide a listing of authorized credit
courses, including ones with allied organizations (TTIA, etc.). Participants
will receive a transcript of their courses and credits each September.
The TACVB Board of Directors will oversee the
administration of the program, and has established an advisory
committee on the program to gain input and suggestions from key
organizations and individuals.
