Summary
The Tourism Specialist supports the Town of Addison’s efforts to promote local events, attractions, and initiatives that enhance tourism and economic development. This role involves assisting in marketing, public relations, community outreach, and conference sales, coordination and support. The incumbent will engage with diverse stakeholders, develop promotional materials, and contribute to tourism-related projects that showcase Addison as a premier destination.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in creating, proofreading, and editing copy for digital platforms, including website updates, blog posts, newsletters, and social media.
  • Maintain and distribute marketing materials, press kits, and media content.
    Coordinate with influencers to promote Addison events and Addison as a tourist and meeting destination.
  • Represent Addison at local and regional tourism events, trade shows, and community programs.
    Support planning and execution of Addison events and hospitality initiatives, ensuring alignment with tourism goals.
  • Act as a liaison to local businesses, residents, and organizations to promote tourism efforts.
    Coordinate volunteer programs and engage with stakeholders to support tourism initiatives.
    Monitor tourism performance metrics, including website traffic, event attendance, and social media engagement.
  • Compile reports on promotional efforts and outcomes.
    Organize and maintain inventory of promotional items and materials.
  • May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality or related field; AND
Two (2) years of experience in tourism, marketing, hospitality or related industry; OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and content strategies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events or programs.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
