Overview

The Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (ACVB) Vice President of Marketing will provide visionary leadership to brand, market and promote Arlington’s numerous leisure and meetings assets.  This executive will position Arlington as a premier leisure destination for sports enthusiasts and families, and generate awareness of and interest in Arlington’s compelling convention campus.

This position reports directly to the President & CEO.  The Vice President of Marketing will oversee the ACVB’s marketing and communications team, but will be expected to be hands-on in the implementation of marketing strategies and tactics.  This person will also provide direction to the ACVB’s full-service advertising agency.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Campaign Development

  • Create leisure and meetings marketing campaigns that drive business to Arlington.
  • Ensure that all marketing deliverables deliver consistent branding and messaging throughout all ACVB communications platforms.
  • Secure and leverage the Arlington visitor data needed to make informed marketing decisions.
  • Build the ACVB’s video and photo libraries, along with other marketing assets.

Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the ACVB’s leadership team and embody the organization’s core values—We Own It, We Lead, We Win, We Celebrate.
  • Create department and individual goals; develop and operate within the department’s annual budget.
  • Manage the marketing and communications team, including holding them accountable for their goals and for the department’s culture.
  • Foster a strong customer-service attitude within the department to maximize its effectiveness in working with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the ACVB’s relationship with its full-service marketing agency to maximize the agency’s value to the ACVB.
  • Stay on top of destination marketing trends, strategies and tactics to ensure the ACVB is delivering cutting-edge advertising and marketing initiatives.  

ACVB Representation

  • Report the department’s accomplishments and updates at ACVB and Arlington Tourism Public Improvement District (ATPID) meetings, hotelier meetings and other events, while soliciting/implementing feedback.
  • Create relationships with marketing representatives at Arlington’s top hotels, restaurants, attractions and other stakeholders to generate ideas on seasonal campaigns and programs.

 

Qualifications Sought

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field.
  • Experience: Ten or more years of relevant, progressive marketing experience.  Past marketing experience with a destination marketing organization (DMO)/CVB is a plus.  Five or more years of managing people and processes.  Past experience with managing any combination of marketing and communications teams and/or a DMO/CVB relationship with a full-service advertising agency is desired. 
  • Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.  Experience creating and implementing marketing campaigns.  Strong understanding of digital marketing and metrics.  Past oversight of websites, social media, consumer e-newsletters and consumer database development.  Mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite.  Ability to work well with everyone from direct staff reports to coworkers to area stakeholders and customers.
  • Travel: Some night and weekend work will be required for events, marketing conferences and other activities.

  • Develop leisure and meetings advertising campaigns that are effective at generating awareness of and interest in Arlington’s numerous attributes.
  • Create meaningful metrics that measure the return on investment from the ACVB’s marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with Arlington’s government and tourism stakeholders.
  • Inspire team members to collaborate with each other, along with ACVB departments and customers.

Arlington Assets

Following are just a few of the assets this executive will help market:

  • Arlington Convention Center: The 266,000-sq.-ft. Arlington Convention Center opened in 2024.  It is attached to the Loews Arlington Hotel and by skybridge to Live! by Loews Hotel.  Adding the ACC helped triple the number of meetings room nights booked by the ACVB in recent years.
  • AT&T Stadium: The home of the Dallas Cowboys and Goodyear Cotton Bowl is located in Arlington’s Entertainment District/convention campus and is within a few blocks of both Loews hotels, the Arlington Convention Center, Texas Live!, Globe Life Field and the National Medal of Honor Museum.  It features a world-class art collection and hosts events and concerts, as well.
  • Choctaw Stadium: Choctaw Stadium is the former home of the Texas Rangers, but has been transformed into the home for the United Football League’s Arlington Renegades and MLS NEXT Pro’s North Texas Soccer Club, in addition to housing offices for several companies, including the ACVB, numerous restaurants, plus shopping in the near future.

  • Esports Stadium Arlington: It’s the largest turnkey esports facility in North America.  The venue is an adaptable space for large spectator gaming events, featuring 100,000 square feet of space.
  • Globe Life Field: Home of the 2023 World Champion Texas Rangers, Globe Life Field is the newest stadium in Major League Baseball opening in 2021.  In addition to the Rangers, Globe Life Field hosts concerts, events, meetings and more.
  • Live! by Loews Hotel: This luxury 300-room hotel opened in 2019 and is in the heart of Arlington’s Entertainment District/convention campus.  It’s Cut & Bourbon restaurant is one of Arlington’s finest steakhouses.
  • Loews Arlington Hotel: This 888-room property opened in 2024 and is connected directly to the Arlington Convention Center and via skybridge to Live! by Loews.  Spa services, upscale dining (Soy Cowboy and Farena) and a massive event lawn are just a few of its special features.
  • National Medal of Honor Museum: The National Medal of Honor Museum, opening March 25, 2025, will be an international attraction.  It honors the 3,000-plus U.S. military members who received the Medal of Honor, which is our nation’s highest military decoration for service in combat.  It is located in Arlington’s Entertainment District.
  • Six Flags Over Texas/Hurricane Harbor: Six Flags Over Texas is the first Six Flags amusement park built in the U.S. opening in 1961.  The renovations through the years have been remarkable as it remains the home of 14 roller coasters and more than 100 attractions.  Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is a 47-acre water park with rides, family water slides and more.  It will open in 2025 after major renovations that include the addition of Splash Island.
  • Texas Live!: Boasting over 200,000 square feet and 10 distinct venues, Texas Live! offers incredible flexibility for private events of any size or budget for up to 10,000 guests.  Bars, restaurants, a massive television and a live music venue often make it the place to be in Arlington.  It, too, is located in Arlington’s Entertainment District.
