POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The Sports Sales Coordinator will be a driving force in establishing Bryan as a leading sports destination. This position will contribute directly to the growth of sports tourism and the economic vitality of our community. You will have the opportunity to secure world-class sporting events, build lasting relationships, showcase Bryan’s unique charm, support the successful execution of events, and drive economic growth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with the BDM to develop and execute a comprehensive sports sales strategy, securing a diverse range of sporting events for Bryan.
• Proactively identify, solicit, and secure sports events by building and maintaining a strong pipeline of potential leads, conducting sales presentations and site visits, and skillfully negotiating contracts.
• Create compelling sales presentations and materials, confidently presenting to diverse audiences, including event organizers and stakeholders.
• Organize and host site visits and FAM tours, showcasing Bryan's facilities and amenities to potential clients.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for event organizers, providing comprehensive support throughout the event planning process.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless event execution, including providing on-site support during events as needed.
• Assist with event logistics, such as venue selection and coordination, accommodation arrangements, transportation planning, and volunteer recruitment.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the sports industry, including sports event organizers, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), sports commissions, local sports organizations, venues, and strategic partners.
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations such as Legends Event Center, Bryan Parks and Recreation Department, Texas A&M University, and other businesses that support sports tourism in Bryan.
• Manage Destination Bryan's Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Grant program by:
o Communicating program details and eligibility criteria to potential event organizers.
o Providing application assistance and guidance to event organizers.
o Evaluating grant applications and compiling supporting documentation for review by the BDM.
o Providing recommendations for grant approval to the BDM.
o Collaborating with the BDM to prepare grant contracts and ensure compliance with all deliverables on behalf of the client.
o Collecting event data throughout the event lifecycle, compiling comprehensive reports (including post-event reports), and ensuring data accuracy for analysis and review.
• Maintaining a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of all sports facilities, venues, and assets available in Bryan to effectively support event organizers.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns to attract sports events to Bryan.
• Represent Destination Bryan at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
• Utilize the customer relationship management (CRM) system to maintain accurate records of accounts, sales activities, leads, and event information, and track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure sales effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
WORKING KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Proven experience in sales, preferably in the sports tourism industry
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace Suite, and CRM software
• Knowledge of the sports tourism industry and trends
• Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities effectively
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with the Bryan-College Station area is a plus
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree or related experience in sports management, tourism, sales, or a related field
• Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed
• Must live in, or be willing to relocate to, the Bryan, Texas area
• Must have a valid driver's license
